The Journey

1950's

In 1950 Mr. PMK Syed Mohamed Maricar travelled from a small coastal town in South India with gems and pearls seeking the best clientele in the United States of America. On his journey he found an important buyer for an incredible 330cts Star Sapphire cabochan. Today, we know the Sapphire as the “Star of Asia”  housed amongst an array of world class gemstones at the Smithsonian Institute,Washington D.C.

Mr. PMK Maricar continued his travels across the Atlantic ocean to the United Kingdom in the late 1950s.

1980’s

The company established itself as one of the top consignment houses in London. Important Ceylon sapphires, Burmese rubies, Colombian emeralds and Gulf natural pearls passed through the hands of the Maricar’s trading in London. Dealers from across America, Europe, Middle East and India would regularly buy and sell fine gemstones and pearls during a remarkable period in the company’s history. The Maricar’s became a trusted partner in the supply chain of important gemstones and jewellery establishing their place as leading London dealers.

2000's

Mr. Syed Mohamed Maricar known and trusted for his expertise on coloured gemstones and natural pearls established a great reputation within the gem and jewellery world. During this period he advised and procured important gems and jewellery for the industry’s most famous jewellery houses on Place Vendome, Geneva, The Middle East and India.

Today

Today the company in it’s fourth-generation of dealing. Mr. Syed Mohamed Maricar and his son Mr. Abdul Jabbar Maricar Jnr. continue the family tradition of buying and selling the finest gems and jewels to retailers and dealers worldwide. Traditionally specialising in cut and polished gemstones and natural pearls, the company today creates unique heirloom jewels from leading workshops in London. Abdul Jabbar Maricar qualified as a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA Carlsbad, USA) in 2007.
